Backbend Workshop

HOllaaaa…. backbend workshop is back! :)
This time, it’s combined with the polyvagal theory, your survival systems.

Deepen your backbend practice by regulating your nervous systems.

As much as I love the aesthetic of backbends, our physical’s restriction (rigidity) whispers a deeper tale. Our body acts a conduit of unexpressed emotions. ​The way we breathe tells a lot (esp. in backbends), when we learn to gaze upon the unseen weights we carry, we learn what part of us that we are protecting and resisting ☺️ .

When our nervous system is tensed, our muscles go all “contract mode” too. It’s a natural subconscious survival response. We are going to explore various tools to regulate our nervous systems, which will lead to our hearts opening with a sense of lightness. Ultimately, a backbend is a posture that opens our hearts. 🥰

​My intention is for you to feel lighter holistically, to have the tools to tune into your heart, and to have FUN. 🤸🏻‍♀️


Workshop | Open-level:
45-min lecture
2 hour 15 min practice
fundamental of backbends, working towards pincha / handstand scorpion and chest/chin stand. 🥨

As the workshop progresses, you are invited to explore the emotional aspects of heart-opening postures, acknowledging any feelings that may arise and allowing themselves to release any tension stored in the heart centre.

This holistic approach aims to not only deepen your backbends, but also to create space for vulnerability, compassion, and self-reflection. ❤️


SO, WHAT IS POLYVAGAL THEORY?

Our nervous systems go beyond Sympathetic (fight, flight) / Para-sympathetic (sleep, digest)

The Polyvagal theory is a concept developed by Dr. Stephen Porges that explains how our autonomic nervous system influences our responses to stress and social interactions. We will dive deeper into this during the workshop. :) By understanding how our autonomic nervous system responds to stress and trauma, we can create a safe and supportive environment to explore deeper into our physical experiences.
